How Do I "Win the Day"?

You hear it everywhere "carpe diem", "control your life", "write your own story", but HOW do you actually make the changes needed to "win the day"?

When making plan, think big. When making progress, think small.

Keeping this mindset is the first step of conquering the task of "winning the day".

1. If your plan include big dreams (we all hope they do), then making small, critical steps everyday will get you there. Make a breakdown sheet then apply it to your top three aspirations. We recommend a "Be" "Do" and "Have" category.

Who do I want to be?

What do I want to do?

What do I want to have?

Ex. "I want to go to watch Serena Williams play tennis, LIVE."

Breakdown:

Research dates

Search Calendar

Find what it would cost

Determine limiting factors (in most cases it would be $, so we will use this to continue the "breakdown")

Every day I can this change:

Not get a drive through coffee (+$3)

Every week I can:

cook at home an extra night (+$12)

Every month I can:

Walk to X place to save on gas

In order to "win the day" you skip the coffee. You are proving to yourself that your goals are worth the small sacrifice and you are therefore winning your day and winning your life! When you are sitting there watching Serena win yet another title, you will reflect on how worth it the little sacrifice was.

2. Show gratitude

Simple is as simple does.

Start your morning by writing down what you are truly grateful for at the moment. It could be the caffeinated beverage that makes you feel cozy and content or it could be the new car you just bought and get to take to work.

End your evening with gratitude. Reflect upon your day and what made it great.

-Fun Fact: the human brain is much more likely to remember and be affected by negative interactions i.e. losing money, spilling coffee, etc. These things sit in the brain longer. CHANGE your memory of the day and put it in the past with positive.

3. Take the time to plan the next day.

Schedule.

Schedule.

Schedule.

By planning things out you automatically make way for yourself to be guilt-free. Accomplishing tasks in the set time frame allows for free time. That way you can enjoy yourself when you are watching that Netflix episode without the days tasks lingering in the back of your mind.
